Fristads academy–FAQ
Fristads academy - High-visibility
There are three different classes within the iso en 20471 hivis standard. which class is used where?
You can usually use the following rule of thumb:
- Class 1 Private premises such as logistics transhipment sites or large enclosed areas where vehicles cross with pedestrians.
- Class 2 all roadside work within the city areas.
- Class 3 all roadside/railway work outside the city areas
When referred to the reflection material on the garments – it's named retro-reflective. what does the retro stand for?
Depending on the brand, retro-reflective material is made using either tiny glass cones or cat eye-shaped pellets. The material redirects about 80% of the light back to its original source. So while wearing garments with retro-reflective material, you will be visible to example cars or trucks while working at night.
Why is it important to keep your hivis garments clean? "because everybody will see me because of the reflective tape on my garments"
Reflective tape doesn't have any functionality during day time. Therefore, the only protection you will have from oncoming traffic during the day is the fluorescent colours you wear. If they are dirty and not bright enough, you will directly endanger yourself.
When wearing a top with class 2 and trousers with class 1 from fristads, you will be able to work in areas where class 3 is mandatory. but, can i also apply this rule when i wear other brands top class 2 on my fristads class 1 trousers?
All our high-visibility garments are certified according to EN ISO 20471 and are divided into three classes – 1, 2 and 3 – depending on their visibility. Class 3 is the highest level of visibility. We have co-certified our high-visibility collections, so garments in class 1 or 2 can be combined in various ways to obtain a higher safety class.
We can't conclude there is a co-certification between the other brand top and the Fristads trousers. Therefore the highest certification for each article counts. If the garments' highest class is only 2, you are not allowed to work in a class 3 mandatory area.
Fristads Academy – Skarup
Why is the skarup concept called the crossover collection?
With a wide range of garments, colours and thought-through details, Skarup makes it possible for companies to dress different professions in garments from the same collection and within the same colour scheme. Both women and men can wear the Skarup collection without making any concessions on functionalities. Therefore, we call Skarup the ultimate crossover collection.
Why are the Skarup tops so shiny?
The Skarup tops are constructed from plated knitted fabric. This special plating technique ensures that all the polyester in the fabric is on the outside and all the cotton on the inside. This has the great advantage that the outer side is more hard-wearing and the colourfastness is also guaranteed longer by the polyester. On the other hand, the cotton inside provides extra comfort and better moisture management. In addition, the shiny appearance usually disappears after a few washes.
Why are there two inner pockets (envelopes) in my knee pocket?
Practically not everybody who has the same body length will have the same femur and lower leg length – the knee height could differ. So we've introduced the two envelopes with a height difference of 5 cm to make it possible for every wearer to adjust the knee protection according to their comfort.
Why was the choice made to have dark reflective tape?
Because the reflective tape doesn't have to comply to any norm. We have design-wise chosen the dark reflective tape for a more integrated look.
Does this dark reflective tape work as well as the silver colored?
Yes, it does. Therefore the Skarup family is ideal for use in logistics or warehouses where vehicles cross paths with pedestrians.
Why is the patent button tucked away behind fabric?
We did this to protect the object the wearer is working with from being scratched by the button. So the whole Skarup family is ideal for the automotive branch.
Why is there Cordura on the back part of the leg ends?
This will protect your Skarup garment from wear and tear caused by repetitive work like bricklaying, wall grouting and plastering. In this line of work the heels of the protective shoes will rub reoccurring against each other, resulting in extra wear and tear of the fabric.
Why is there no tall sizing in the service trousers (129482) of the skarup concept?
There is, but it's integrated within the model. All the Skarup service trousers (male and female) have a 5 cm seam at every leg end. When applicable, this seem can be laid out.
